About Us
.
Citizens Advice Direct provides a free, independent, impartial and confidential telephone advice and information service. As a generalist advice and information service, Citizens Advice Direct aims to increase people’s access to advice and information and empower them with the tools, knowledge and confidence to resolve their issues.
Citizens Advice Direct opens up advice services to those who have previously been excluded by their social or geographical circumstances. It empowers people by providing them with the information and assistance they need to assert their rights as citizens.
Many people find accessing advice services to be problematic. This is particularly true for the elderly, disabled or housebound. It also applies to those who cannot afford transport or childcare costs or who are always at work during normal service opening hours.
Citizens Advice Direct addresses this need by providing a telephone based advice and information service. Initial contact with the client allows our trained advisers to diagnose the issues involved for the client and advise on available options. Where appropriate, clients are referred to a local citizens advice bureau or other partner agencies.
Citizens Advice Direct is a charity based in Glasgow and is funded by various different Funders and Partners. The service is staffed by paid staff and volunteer advisers
In addition to this helpline service, Citizens Advice Direct works with partner organisations, including Age Concern Scotland and Macmillan Cancer Relief, to provide targeted advice services.
