Governance
Established in 2000 as a company limited by guarantee, Citizens Advice Direct is a registered charity (SCO34473) and is an independent member of Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS). An unpaid Board of Directors drawn from the community, which includes volunteers and representatives of partner organisations, oversees the service.
As a member of CAS, Citizens Advice Direct is subject to the CAS conditions of membership. The CAS Membership Scheme sets out the quality assurance standards to which all bureaux are expected to operate.
In particular, to ensure that Citizens Advice Direct provides high quality advice to clients it must satisfy two aspects of advice practice:
1. Professional Practice - the process of advice giving.
2. Technical Practice - the technical content of the advice.
The advice that Citizens Advice Direct give is audited against these criteria.
