Citizens Advice Direct Achieves Investors in People
Accreditation
After careful preparation and planning, Citizens Advice Direct
has been successful in obtaining the Investors in People (IIP)
accreditation. The accreditation demonstrates Citizens
Advice Direct's commitment to its volunteers and future plans for
the organisation.
Kirsteen McDonald, Chief Executive at Citizens Advice
Direct explains, "Our volunteers and staff are the backbone of our
organisation so it is important that the way we train them and the
processes that they follow are effective in order for them to
perform their role well. This also helps towards us meeting
business and financial objectives. It is important for us to
retain as many volunteers as possible. Good basic training,
ongoing coaching and advice make for good volunteers and staff and
a happy workforce.
Most of our training courses comply with national and industry
standards and ensures that the advice service our volunteers
provide is to a high standard. In many respects we were already
operating within the IIP guidelines, but it was important that we
formalised some of our people management processes. Going
through the process has allowed us to improve some processes and
has given us food for thought on how we can expand our service and
improve the way we provide advice."
