Telephone advice now available to Armed Services
Veterans
In addition to providing advice to the citizens of Scotland,
Citizens Advice Direct also provides telephone based advice
services on behalf of other organisations. One such
organisation which has recently come on board is Poppyscotland with
its recently launched Armed Service Advice Project (ASAP).
The project sees Citizens Advice Direct work alongside a number of
other agencies to provide specialist advice to veterans, their
carers' and families. The project is funded by a number of
charities and will ensure easier access to advice by the armed
forces community. Citizens Advice Direct will be responsible
for providing telephone based advice on a number of issues
affecting ex-military service personnel including finance, health,
housing and personal problems.
"We are delighted to be involved in helping those people who
have served our country. Quite often the move from the
military life back into civilian life throws up some
challenges. Veterans can now get quick and easy access
to advice on a number of issues. This should make life a bit
easier for them, of which we are privileged to help", comments
Kirsteen McDonald, Chief Executive, Citizens Advice Direct.
